Sigma Mathematics Workbook (NCEA Edition)

What's new?

The Sigma Mathematics Workbook features 78 self-contained assignments.  All of these are organised in sequence to fit the seven NCEA Statistics and Modelling Level 3 Achievement Standards.  At the beginning of each section the relevant NCEA Achievement Standard is quoted to provide clear guidance about the coverage and expected levels of difficulty.

Every task in the Workbook is linked to a corresponding section in the main textbook - to make it easy for students and teachers to make the connection between topics studied in class and the associated exercises in the Workbook.

The tasks are clearly indicated as being at Achievement (ACH), Merit (MRT) or Excellence (EXC) level.

Look for the companion CD that comes with the Workbook at no extra charge.  Read more about the CD here.

In response to customer feedback we have designed the book to provide plenty of working space.  Creative use of a second colour (bronze) adds to the visual appeal.  Each sheet is removable, meaning that the book can be kept at home and the sheets could be removed when completed and brought to school.

Like other books in the series, the Workbook has the following popular features

  • Full answers - these are detachable if teachers choose
  • Comprehensive worked examples
  • Interesting and challenging puzzles
  • Extended investigations that explore practical use of maths in real-life situations

The three internally assessed NCEA Achievement Standards have plenty of data sets provided to give useful practice on these kinds of analysis.  All the data sets can be downloaded from the companion CD.
